2022 Otto Akkanen Moving on Sensation

Contact Improvisation – Moving on sensation

04.06.2022: Gravity and Support 11.00 – 17.00 (1h lunch break)
11.06: Qualities of connection 11.00 – 17.00 (1h lunch break)
18.06.: Lend me your feet (or rolling up the mountain) 11.00 – 17.00 (1h lunch break)

What if sensation is the result and the result is sensation?
I look for the earth,
without it I am lost, without it I am not.
Weight falls through me.
How to guide these falls?

In this workshop sequence we tune ourselves to listen to the  forces of weight and support, gravity.
We will work on the floor and with each other sensing our own physical organisation and the organisation of our partner(s). How we can move together as one organism, without needing to premeditate what or how to do, but the movement springing out from the forces we are bound to.

The work is simple and complex at the same time.
Things we all know and can do, if we just tune into our (almost) everyday sensations. Working alone, working together, there’s a difference, and yet, there is no difference, if we are guided by our sensing of the physical forces.

Please be aware that the workshop is building up and it is recommended to attend the whole sequence. Please contact me if you have any access needs or questions about my work.
